Hi, everyone! Vanessa from Babelsbook here. On behalf of our team, I would like to thank everyone for their participation in our short story contest. The contest is officially closed; now, voting can begin.
We have three entries in English that can be voted for. They are as follows:
An should have listened to his mother’s warning. He shouldn’t have strayed so far from home – not when there were battles being fought so close by. What will she think? What will his brother, Quang, still somewhere fighting the war, think?
She jogs to and back from the local gym, at least every Tuesday and Thursday, between 8 and 11 p.m. Usually, the only other person with whom she speaks is the gym employee, working his nightshift on these two days. Is there anything she can’t outrun?
In 1957 America, Doctor Peter Alexander finds a job at the Middleton Home for the Criminally Insane in Jonesville, Florida to build up his career. But, working there is neither as pleasant nor as rewarding as he expected it to be.
To vote, read through the stories on our blog and make your selection by commenting at the bottom of this post with a simple mention of your favourite title. Voting will be open for five days from Saturday May 6th through to May 11th. We’ll announce our winner on May 12 on our Facebook Page.
The winner will have their short story translated for free into either Spanish, German, or French.
